Chapter 9: New place

During the trip I realized that each time that someone gave us food, Yan gave me the biggest part. After a week we were starving and wished to have a good meal soon. We stole some food, but it was not enough for us to be full.

We finally arrived in a small town named St-Laurent. We were walking in the street and Yan collapse and felt on the ground in front of a grocery store. People went around to see what was appending and I asked some of them to help me bring him inside. They leaded us to a small room in the back store (the employee’s room) and we putted him on the floor near the table. He finally came back to himself.

- Yan what appended just now… are you ok?
- I really think I should eat something

Someone brings us a sandwich and some cookies, Yan eat them as if he never ate before. I started wondering if this life of travel and starvation would last a long time.

- You really need to eat more, so for now on you will have the biggest part of our meals…
- (Stranger voice) Sorry to interrupt you, but I overheard your conversation and you seem to be starving you two… So I wondered if you need some money to buy food.
- Well to be honest we really need some money…
- So I think there is something I can do. I’m the manager of this store and maybe you (looking at Soraya and Yan) could have a job here so you could make some money to buy food. So what do you think?
- (Soraya looking at Yan) So do you think we should say yes? (whisper) Are we far enough?
- (Yan whisper) I think he will never find us here, so I say we should agree.
- That’s ok we will work here and I promise you that we will work really hard.
- In that case that’s good, just come tomorrow at 10 and I will show you what I want. By the way what are your names?
- I’m So… eh Sarah and his name is Yan.
- So see you tomorrow…

We leaved the grocery store and fond a nice place in the forest to rest for the night. I had so many questions to ask Yan, but I didn’t know where to start, so much thing that I don’t know about him. Well I realized that I didn’t know anything about him except that he is an orphan and that he can morph.

This guy is so mysterious, I wish I could learn more about him…
